Goals

When embarking on a new adventure,  I highly recommend coming up with a list of goals! Whether you're traveling,  buying a house,  or going off to school - you should learn about the experiences and options available and set your priorities!! So,  as I pack and utilize Facebook marketplace in an effort to be ready in a week and a half, I'm looking at opportunities available to me in the new area,  in graduate school and personally.  

We won't go into personal goals,  but here are some things I want to do before I graduate:

Professional:
  • Learn Creative Cloud.  It's very useful for ID professionals!
  • Help with an undergraduate class. Great practical,  in- field experience!
  • Work with a client in an ID capacity. 
  • Help with Research. Another good experience,  both seeing first hand the publication process and participating in the research. 
  • ?

Community & Social:
  • Hike the Y. As I understand it,  this is a MUST for students attending BYU.
  • Participate in Graduate In Graduate Society. 
  • Go to Lagoon. 
  • Eat at Cubby's.
  • Eat at Shoga.
  • Try Costa Vida. Apparently it's better than Cafe Rio, but i don't know if I Ibelieve that!
  • Go to at least one national park. Utah has five: Arches, Bryce Canyons,  Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Zion.
  • Go to a BYU football game.  COVID may make this one difficult,  but if next year people can go to games,  I wasn't to go.

Home is Where the Heart Is

I find myself at loose ends at the moment.  Add I contemplate the next two months of my life,  even up to the next three years,  I can't help wondering what life will bring.  I've been working almost constantly the last two days trying to complete all the necessary paperwork to enroll in and pay for graduate school.  I wish i had someone from whom I could learn what I'm getting into.  I've learned this week that my semester will be almost entirely project based.  Two tests in the entire semester. TWO Weeks

In two weeks,  I get to move.  In three weeks school starts - my first semester of graduate education! The anticipation is nerve wracking,  but I am so excited! I have a Pinterest board full of goals,  ideas and  what I want to become.  It's pretty all- encompassing and I can't wait!!  I am registered for a full time graduate courseload. I have a job as a TA.  I have friends up there from years past. I have goals set in place that I am Eagar to begin working on and now I just have to move.  And get my roommates and unit assignment. It's a work in progress.  I can't stand a mess,  so I've been procrastinating pulling things out and sorting them because I don't want to live in the mess.  I wish there was a place where I could pile up the stuff I'm taking,  getting rid of and throwing away.  I'm slowly throwing things away,  going through drawers and mentally losing where each thing will go. Social Creatures

Human beings are social creatures.  Even introverts need to interact with other people!  I just moved to a new city in which I knew 4 people in the city and one in a nearby city.  Two are married (one is my little sister's childhood best friend 10.5 years younger than me anyway), one I learned is engaged when I moved up here,  and the other is... complicated.  I wish I knew how to uncomplicated it,  but I haven't figured it out yet and it's a two way thing. Slight tangent,  but the point is that  the three I can talk to all have their own families, and hence priorities.  I am surrounded by young people where I live and age and maturity also change your perspective, and to some extent,  your focus.  In this day of COVID-19, how is one expected to have a social network?   I feel like there is something more I should be doing.  After all,  I'm studying,  sleeping,  eating, getting food,  cleaning and ...
